How to Use CBD Patches
Our CBD patches are transdermal, releasing CBD gradually into the skin using the warmth of your body. The patch typically works for 8–10 hours, but you can leave it on for up to 24 hours. You will notice when its effect diminishes, prompting you to apply a new patch. CBD patches are transparent with a subtle print and are nearly invisible on the skin. Each patch measures 4 x 4 cm and can be used on bruises, swelling, sore muscles, joints, lower back, or neck. CBD patches are also suitable for pets like dogs, cats, or horses—just apply them to hairless skin.
The patch works locally, providing effects in the area of application. Apply it to the desired spot, ideally on clean, intact, and hair-free skin (to avoid discomfort when removing it). After removal, some adhesive residue may remain on the skin, which can be washed off with soap and lukewarm water. If the patch loses its effect after several hours, you can replace it with a new one.
CBD patches are an excellent alternative to our hemp ointment with comfrey but can also be used in combination. We recommend cleaning the skin with soap and drying it before application. For larger areas, consider our CBD Patches 1000 mg, measuring 8 x 10 cm.
How CBD Patches Work
The skin is more than just a protective barrier—it’s a complex organ essential for immunity and sensory interaction with the external environment, enabling us to feel heat, cold, texture, pain, etc. When a CBD patch is applied to the skin, an intriguing interaction occurs between the patch and the skin. Cannabinoids, including CBD, interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which aims to maintain homeostasis or balance. This system regulates various functions, including pain perception, immune response, and inflammation.
The interaction happens through two primary types of receptors found in the skin: CB1 and CB2.
- CB1 receptor activation influences pain and inflammation regulation.
- CB2 receptor activation primarily impacts immune response and inflammatory processes.
When you apply a CBD patch, CBD molecules gradually penetrate deeper skin layers and bind to these receptors. This activation can reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and support healing processes.
The precise mechanism of how cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system is not yet fully understood. However, growing evidence suggests that cannabinoids from hemp offer significant health benefits.
